Chopta Trek

Chopta becomes one of the famous treks of Uttarakhand or you can say the most visited trek of North India. There is no doubt that Chopta offers bewitching views of nature and the giant Himalayas. Trekking in Chopta is a craze among the young trekkers. In this article, we'll tell you why Chopta is so famous.

Popularly referred to as the ‘mini Switzerland’ of Uttarakhand, Chopta (at an approximate altitude of 2,608 m) is a slice of paradise tucked away in the Garhwal Himalayas. Surrounded by bugyals or velvety meadows and pristine snow-capped peaks, Chopta is an all-year holiday destination: pleasant in summer, rain-fresh in monsoon and a snow-clad fairyland in winter.

Description

Chopta is a location which looks amazing throughout the year, in winters it receives heavy snowfall which turned it into a white land of god. In monsoon, the green pasture land and new flowers makes it a fairy land of angels and in summers the pleasant weather makes it a perfect place to get hide from scorching sun or to spend your summer vacation. So please don't think too much about which season is good for Chopta to visit and which is not. However, sometime it receives heavy rainfall during monsoon so you can check weather forecast before planning your trip to Chopta during monsoon. However, at the time of monsoon or you can say 'Savan' because of Tungnath temple, Chopta witnesses a good amount of travelers.

Place with stunning grassland meadows in summers and views of snow capped peaks all the year round. Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, is just a 4 km trek from this place. Further 1 km up is Chandrashila, from where one can see 360 degree views of the Himalayas, only if mist and clouds show mercy.
